Over 70 Years On, We Still Bake Like Family

Every biscuit we make carries a little bit of history. Frank’s didn’t begin in a factory or a boardroom — it began in a farmhouse kitchen in the 1950s, with a warm oven, a busy family, and a recipe worth protecting.

It started on a Thursday. Back then, Thursdays had a rhythm to them. That was the day Frank’s mother would bake, filling the kitchen with the smell of oats and butter using her own original recipe passed down from her mother — the very same one we still bake to today. Nothing about it was rushed. It was made the way you make things for people you love: with care, and with time.

Honest ingredients, nothing to hide. We’ve never seen the sense in cutting corners on the things that matter. We use real British butter, proper ingredients, and a good deal of love — because that’s what makes a biscuit taste like it was made by hand, not by a machine. Our rule has always been a simple one: if we wouldn’t serve it in our own home, it isn’t going in our packs.

Growing up, without growing apart. From humble beginnings on local market stalls, Frank’s biscuits now sit on shelves right across the UK. It’s a proud thing to see — but we’ve been careful. We’ve grown without losing the thing that made people fall for Frank’s in the first place. Every bake is still a small-batch bake, still handmade with care, still the kind of biscuit you find yourself reaching for again and again.

Still no shortcuts. Over seventy years later, the world looks very different — but our kitchen doesn’t. We’ve kept that warm, family atmosphere in everything we do. Just Frank’s family recipe, passed down through the generations, and the same belief we started with: that good things are worth doing properly.

So the next time you open a pack of Frank’s, know that you’re tasting more than a biscuit. You’re tasting a Thursday afternoon in a farmhouse kitchen, over seventy years of family, and a recipe we’ve never once been tempted to change.

Great British Food Awards 2026 Finalists in Two Categories

Frank’s Luxury Biscuits is delighted to announce that we are Great British Food Awards 2026 Finalists in two categories.

The Great British Food Awards celebrate the very best of British produce, with every entry put through its paces over a series of rigorous blind tasting days. Only the highest-scoring products make it through to the final — so to have two of ours recognised means the world to our little team here in Hereford.

Every biscuit, flapjack and bake we make is crafted by hand in Herefordshire, in small batches, with proper ingredients and no shortcuts. Awards come and go, but knowing our bakes stood out to a panel of experts is the loveliest reminder of why we do what we do.

Being named Great British Food Awards 2026 Finalists is a fantastic achievement for our small Herefordshire bakery. Every biscuit, flapjack and bake is made in small batches using carefully selected ingredients and traditional baking methods. Recognition from one of Britain’s best-known food awards highlights the care, quality and attention to detail that goes into every product we create. We’re incredibly proud that two of our products have reached the finals and grateful to our loyal customers who continue to support our family business.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 6 October 2026 in London. Everything crossed until then — we’ll be sure to let you know how we get on!

Hello, and welcome to the very first post on the Frank’s Luxury Biscuits Herefordshire blog. We’re so glad you’re here.

For those who don’t know us yet, we’re a small team of bakers in Hereford making luxury biscuits, flapjacks, shortbread and cakes by hand — using a family recipe that’s been passed down through four generations. What began in a family kitchen is now loved in over 500 shops across the UK, but the way we bake hasn’t changed: small batches, natural ingredients, and no preservatives or e‑numbers.

We’re proud of what comes out of our ovens. Our biscuits have been recognised with a Great Taste Award, we’re SALSA accredited for food safety, and we still believe the best treats are the simple ones, made properly.
